After running, I putzed around the house, cleaned one of our cupboards, completed some health forms for work, etc. I did not take your advice, Sara, to resist making more coffee and made a half a pot of decaf. It was delicious and I do not regret the decision. However, I don't want to make a habit of drinking coffee all morning, so maybe I'll have better self restraint tomorrow. Another favorite treat is a peanut butter, chocolate, banana protein smoothie, so late in the morning, I whipped up two smoothies and delivered one to my hard working hubby. He was working on a loader at the mulch store, so I snuck a few pics. Don't worry, I made sure no one was watching. I don't think he would have been real thrilled with me had there been an audience.
After visiting Rob, I stopped by the Ridges to visit Grandma K. who went into the hospital earlier this week for a UTI. She was sleeping when I got to her room, so I hung out for a few minutes until she woke up. When she realized I was there, she absolutely lit up! Mom has mentioned before that every time she visits her, Grandma absolutely lights up, which is really cute. We had a nice conversation about my summer plans, her apartment move, Olivia's grad party, Alix and Ava, etc. Just as I was getting ready to leave, the hospital chaplain came to see her, so I headed out.
I'm looking for some large, inexpensive artwork for my new office, so I stopped by TJMaxx Home Goods and Kirklands. They have some decent, reasonably priced options that I made note of, but left each store empty handed. Well... that's not entirely true. I bought some nail polish at TJMaxx. Nail polish! A really necessary purchase. This is why I shouldn't ever go shopping ... I have little will power. Although, after carrying a mint colored purse around the store, I put it back in its place. Guess I have just a little self control. Since I finished the Ten Year Nap yesterday, I needed to pick up a few more books for my collection, so I swung into Barnes and Noble and bought a few.
On to dinner plans with Jenny, Dave, Maggie and Leila. We went to the Red Barn Pizza Farm outside of Northfield where we enjoyed appetizers and wine (both of which we brought), $25 pizzas (not inexpensive but very tasty), live folk music, and farm animals. All in a beautiful, peaceful country setting.
It's an interesting place as they do not supply anything but the pizza. You have to bring your own plates, blankets, chairs, drinks, desserts, etc. I can't even be sure they have garbage cans. They must have them somewhere, but I didn't see them. Considering they charge $25 per pizza and provide next to nothing, they probably make a decent amount of money the nights they're open. (They have really limited hours -- Wednesdays in the summer and every 3rd Sunday, I think?) I ran into Mary L, one of Jackie S's friends, who said they were order #131. Our pizzas were #31 and 32 so I'm sure they're making 150-200 pizzas on a good night.
Despite the fact that it's bring-your-own everything, I really enjoyed the experience! It's a lovely setting, great pizza, tons of familiar faces (ran into Andrew and Kelly G from SSM, David G from StO, Angie also from StO) and fun company!
From there, we went to Dundas to watch the Dundas Dukes! Adam J and Luddy are on the team (as are a few other Oles, including the Neugers) so we were their cheering section. It was a perfect night for a ballgame!
