plum ...

... is my color of the season. in less than a week, i have purchased 4 plum colored items: 1 shirt, 1 sweater, 1 dress and 1 necklace. oh and the lip gloss i bought tonight could also be considered plum even though the official color is amethyst. oh my gosh, i just realized i purchased another plum colored shirt when i was in new orleans a few weeks ago. and as i write this post, i'm wearing a plum hoodie. and i had a plum for breakfast this morning. stop the plumness!! :)

i was reminded that last year i had to borrow a duffle bag to get my travel purchases home. i might have what's called fall travel season shopping addiction (FTSSA). FTSSA occurs when admissions officers have an hour or two between appointments and happen to be near a mall. clearly, there isn't enough time to get any work done, so the addict makes a quick stop at their favorite store (sometimes it's not even their favorite store, but any store on the way to or near their next appointment) to check on the latest fashion or deals. she makes fast friends with the sales people because she's starved for adult interaction and will carry on a conversation with just about anyone... especially someone who tells her the charcoal gray pants fit perfectly and would go very well with the plum top she just tried on. oh and don't forget about the accessories they have near the front of the store. one affected by FTSSA may try to justify their purchases by saying they never have a chance to shop at home, they're saving money by not buying groceries for six weeks, the straps on their shoes broke so obviously they need a new pair for the upcoming college fairs, the perfect pair of pants probably won't be available at the same store at home, etc. like most addictions, FTSSA is costly and can give the addict a false sense of comfort while they're away from family and friends.

but they sure look great at that high school visit.
